We are now coming up to that wonderful time of year where children envision a jolly man dressed in red bringing them items on their wish list. Here at Toys for Youngstown Kids we do what we can to help the many children in the valley whose parents or family members are struggling due to life’s many obstacles. We assist the valley (Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana Counties) by easing the financial strain that the holidays can bring upon us.
We are a small organization run by a handful of individuals who are looking for sponsorships and raising funds to assist those in need. Your patience with us is appreciated as we sift through letters and fulfill as many requests as possible.
This year we are enforcing new guidelines and rules to be followed when requesting assistance, as well as keeping to some of the guidelines that have been implemented since day one. One thing that we would like everyone to know is that we love seeing so many familiar faces, however, with the tripling of assistance last holiday, we are seeing more and more new faces surface. Because of this we will be changing the order in which we present the letters to our sponsors. We will be presenting the letters not by the date of arrival, but by the numbers of years we have assisted your families. We know that at times it is hard for us to get back on our feet, so we will still be as helpful as we can no matter how many years of assistance we have provided.
As always, we will be making sure to get something for every child, we just cannot guarantee specific items will be purchased. We will be continuing to maintain that electronics will not be purchased, nor will anything that has a heartbeat.

Rules for submitting a letter to Santa:
- Letters will be accepted by postal mail only. No letters will be accepted via messenger or email. They must be sent to P O BOX 9452 Boardman, Ohio 44513.
- All letters must contain parent/legal guardian information, preferably on a separate piece of paper. The information should contain your name, name of the child(ren), phone number and address. Email is appreciated as well so that Santa’s photos are easier to deliver.
- Please refrain your child from putting their last name on their letters. Due to privacy we do not like having the personal information on the letters, and we do not like to modify the letters.
- Regarding children who are too young to “write” letters, you are more than welcome to write it for them. One thing that you want to keep in mind is that you want your child’s letter to stand out so include a scribbling of theirs or a handprint.
- Appointment times will be given in Santa’s letter to the children and these times will be adhered to. We pack the trucks so that the times are grouped together. If you need a time slot with another family please include this information on your contact information page.
- Children MUST attend Santa’s party to receive your items. If you are not able to attend the party, a doctor’s note will be required to receive the items within 5 days of the party. If you do not bring the child or a doctor’s note all items will be forfeited and donated to a child next year.
- The party information is private. We will not make public the date or location of the party; however, the information will be written within the letters to the children from Santa.
- Please do not ask if your child has been sponsored. All children are getting a letter from Santa and inviting them to the party.
- Families requesting our assistance should not be receiving assistance from any other agency. We do work with other agencies and we will be checking.
- Items that you receive can’t be returned, traded or sold. If you are found to be selling or returning items we will prosecuting. This is theft by deception and it takes away from other families who are in need.
- It would be appreciated if all children who are receiving assistance writes a thank you letter to Santa and his elves. This letter will be sent to the sponsors and will encourage them to assist other families in the future.
